VMware Consultant / L2 & L3 Systems Administrator Opportunities

Sydney / Melbourne / Canberra
Permanent Roles | Australian Citizens (NV1, NV2, TSPV preferred but not essential)

Cleared, an Australian-owned organisation delivering critical IT solutions across Federal Government, Defence and National Security.

Cleared Professional Services, and parent company Cleared Recruitment, has worked alongside Broadcom for the past four years and in 2025 was formally recognised as a strategic partner across the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.

This reflects the growing role trusted professional services partners play in accelerating private cloud adoption, particularly as organisations navigate increasingly complex transformation journeys. The APJ region is undergoing a rapid shift toward modern private cloud environments, driven by demand for AI-ready infrastructure, stronger data security, and scalable platforms. According to Broadcom’s Private Cloud Outlook 2025, 88% of organisations in the region trust private cloud for workload security and compliance, but successful transformation depends on experienced partners who can guide organisations from Day 0 planning through to Day 2 operations and beyond.

This highlights the importance of end-to-end transformation, where organisations move away from siloed deployments toward unified architectures that bring together infrastructure, applications and operations. Professional services partners like Cleared Professional Services play a critical role in enabling this shift, supporting customers through discovery, deployment, adoption and ongoing optimisation. Broadcom’s continued investment in partner capability across APJ, including training, certifications and programs such as the Expert Advantage Program (EAP), further strengthens this ecosystem. With VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 live, momentum is building as organisations prepare for the next phase of private cloud innovation, focused on resilience, scalability and long-term value.

The VMware capability here is growing fast - and we’re building a strong team around it.

This is more than just a job; this is a stepping stone to becoming a certified professional with a global blue-chip client. These opportunities would suit Systems Administrators and general infrastructure engineers, who are passionate about cloud, virtualisation and automation.

It’s a chance to step into a career-defining VMware pathway, build real enterprise skills and get certified while working on infrastructure that matters.

If you’re hands-on, curious and want to move beyond support work into design, build and real infrastructure ownership, this is the next step

The opportunity

This is a permanent role designed to grow your career long term.

You’ll be working across VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments, helping design, build and run large-scale virtualised platforms across complex enterprise and government environments.

More importantly, you’ll be supported to get there.

We provide a structured 6-week enablement program when you start, plus access to training labs and certification pathways. This is your chance to become VMware certified while you work.

Think VCP, VCAP and beyond - with real experience to back it up.

What you’ll be doing

This is a hands-on role across real delivery work:

  • Building and supporting VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments
  • Working across vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and SDDC Manager
  • Supporting migrations, upgrades, and new platform builds
  • Getting involved in automation using tools like PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, and Aria
  • Helping shape architecture decisions and technical direction over time
  • Working in structured, enterprise-scale environments with experienced engineers

Who this suits

We are looking for people who want to move forward, not stay static.

  • Windows or Linux System Administrators ready to step into VMware
  • Junior to mid-level engineers who want project and design exposure
  • Engineers interested in automation and cloud infrastructure
  • People who enjoy solving real technical problems, not just ticket queues
  • Strong communicators who can grow into consulting or architecture roles

Whilst you do not need to be an expert or overly familiar with VMware products, you must show a level of expertise and attitude to want to learn and upskill. Do you own a home lab? What do you do in your spare time to upskill?

A security clearance is preferred, but is not essential for these positions.

Major Benefits:

  • Permanent long-term career pathway, not short-term contracting
  • Structured VMware certification support built in
  • Real enterprise and government-scale infrastructure
  • Strong technical teams who know the platform deeply
  • Hands-on exposure to VMware Cloud Foundation from day one
  • Clear path from engineer → consultant → architect

Nice to have

  • Experience or exposure to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9 is a plus)
  • VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, VCDX)
  • Exposure to TOGAF or Zachman frameworks
